30 Youth receive Volunteerism Awards in Southern Indiana
The community-service efforts of young people in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties were recognized on April 4th in New Albany with the presentation of Gold Acorn Awards for youth volunteerism. The awards, having been established as a way to support and encourage youthful giving and serving, are presented under the auspices of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana and are sponsored in part by local Rotary Clubs in the three counties. The festive event was chaired by youth and adults as partners in the planning. Youth members of the Philanthropy Councils orchestrated the event. Charitable
organizations, churches and schools in the three counties selected young volunteers to be honored. For more information, contact CFSI at www.cfsouthernindiana.com.

"Angel" Grants
This week several "angels" in the community will recognize and reward 11 Indiana organizations with funds to build the spirit of giving for Indiana's future.
Martin J. Moore, President of the Moore Foundation, will deliver checks totaling over $40,000 to community foundations and other nonprofits who have developed programs that
engage youth in philanthropy.
The funds are intended to begin or supplement an endowment, intending to convey to the youth involved in the programs the importance of saving and building for the future.
After Mr. Moore initiated the idea of granting these unexpected funds ("Angel Grants"), fellow funders, Irwin Mortgage Corporation and The Mary E. Ober Foundation accepted Mr. Moore's challenge to be part of the funding pool.
Each $4,000 gift includes a challenge for the organization to raise an additional $1,000, which would then be matched 1-1 by the funders.
