YP JAM 2006: iGIVE-iSERVE: COMMUNITY ACTION IN BLACK AND WHITE
The fourth annual Youth Jam will be an intensive two-day training and networking event held at Franklin College on July 13-14, 2006. Approximately 150 youth and adult participants will focus on developing and learning to utilize youth leadership skills. The theme, iGive-iServe: Community Action in Black and White, will focus on a variety of action-packed, highly motivational and educational activities. Anna Scally, internationally-known presenter for conferences, retreats and rallies for youth and the adults who work with them, has again agreed to be our keynote speaker. While, the registration fee for each Youth Jam participant is only $75, scholarships are available for those unable to pay the discounted fee. Brochures will be available by mid-month. Please let us know how many brochures you need for your organization.


PACERS FOUNDATION INC.'S TEAMUP SCHOLARSHIP PRESENTED BY VEOLIA WATER INDIANAPOLIS

An initiative of Pacers Foundation, Inc. and Veolia Water Indianapolis, the TeamUp Scholarship recognizes Indiana high school seniors for their outstanding service to the community. Through the program, Pacers Foundation and Veolia Water Indianapolis will award five $2,000 scholarships, which can be used at any accredited four-year college or two-year community or junior college. Applicants are evaluated based on their record of service to the community, on recommendations from community leaders and on a 500-word essay. The application is available for download at
www.PacersFoundation.org Completed applications must be postmarked by March 1.

GLORIA BARRON PRIZE FOR YOUNG HEROES SEEKS NOMINATIONS
The Gloria Barron Prize for Young Heroes seeks nominations for its 2006 awards. The Barron Prize honors young people ages 8 to 18 who have shown leadership and courage in public service to people and our planet. Each year, ten national winners each receive $2,000 to support their service work or higher education. This year's nomination deadline is April 30, 2006. For more information and to nominate, visit:

THE STARBUCKS FOUNDATION - GIVING VOICE
Giving Voice grants fund programs for youth, ages 6-18, that integrate literacy with personal and civic action in the communities where they live. The Starbucks Foundation invites letters of inquiry from qualifying 501(c)3 organizations that work with underserved youth in the fields of literacy (reading, writing and creative/media arts) and environmental literacy. Grants range from $5,000-$20,000. For more information, visit:

IYI FUND DEVLOPMENT TRAININGS
IYI is a source of affordable, excellent trainings. Make sure you bring a team or individuals to PREPARING SUCCESSFUL GRANT PROPOSALS. This highly-acclaimed, much-requested training session from Indiana University's Fund Raising School is being delivered around the state at a fraction of the cost. Thanks to the federal Compassion Capital Fund, the registration fee is just $10!!
South Bend (April 5-6), New Albany (May 2-3), Indianapolis (May 9-10), Ft. Wayne (May 16-17), East Chicago (June 6-7), Muncie (June 13-14), Syracuse (June 20-21), Evansville (June 27-28). Registration:

GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE ON SERVICE & VOLUNTEERISM
The Governor's Conference on Service & Volunteerism will be held on April 10-11, 2006, at the Marriott Downtown in Indianapolis.  The conference is chaired by the Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives on behalf of Governor Mitch Daniels and the Department of Education/Learn & Serve Indiana is a contributing partner.  The conference is designed for all who give of their time and talent in service to others - national service members, service learning instructors and students, faith and community volunteers.  The purpose is to celebrate, rejuvenate and inspire all those who serve, offering participants a renewed sense of empowerment and purpose in contributing to the solutions that make Indiana a great place to live.  The conference will feature nine solution tracks: sessions on funding, interpersonal communication, media & public relations, career enhancement, faith-based initiatives, volunteerism, national service, service learning, and youth.  For more information, visit www.ofbci.in.gov.
