PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Dollar Drive
Training
South Madison Community Foundation is hosting a Dollar Drive training in the late summer (late August/early September). Executive Director Dick Creger would like to invite other foundations (or hosting organizations) to partner with SMCF on this effort. If you do not have a youth philanthropy program, this is a simple way to get started.
If you are interested in attending a training at SMCF, please
contact Dick Creger. For more information on the training content, contact Jerry Finn.
If you have training or other calendar
events that you would like to have listed in the E-Chronicle,
please submit them to Jerry
Finn.

Youth Philanthropy Survey - We have received many responses to the recent survey of youth philanthropy programs in the state. The survey will help us get a better picture of the variety of youth philanthropy programs that exist in Indiana. Additionally, your input will help us better serve your needs and it will allow us to establish a database about the various types of youth philanthropy programs. The compilation of the survey material will be entered
onto a state map within the YPII Web site that will display county by county the youth philanthropy programs in operation. This will serve as an excellent resource for many organizations and a collaborative networking tool for all.
Please return your survey to ensure your programs are counted. If you need another copy of the survey, email Jenny Zeisler, at The Clowes Fund.

"Philanthropy BUZZ" Introducing "Philanthropy BuZZ," a new addition to the YPII E-Chronicle. Submit your questions for any of the YPII partners.
What is the best way to bring up youth involvement with my Board of Directors?
BuZZ: Some expert advice might be helpful from an Executive Director of a local Community Foundation in Central Indiana. Dee Dee Daniels, from White Lick Heritage Community Foundation in Hendricks County, shared the following when asked about how to address your Board of Directors about youth serving in some capacity within the Community Foundation.
"First, bring a young person in who is experienced in some type of youth philanthropy program and allow them to share their story with the Board of Directors. The passion they have for their work will speak 'loud and clear.' This worked for Dee Dee, who now has a youth grantmaking council called Youth Enriching Society or YES, and her Board of Directors is extremely supportive of the effort."
