Great Grants Award to be given at YP Jam 2004
"Philanthropy- The Extreme Experience"
$500 cash prize to organization presenting the best grant/project!
At the 2004 statewide Youth Philanthropy Jam, July 6-7 at Franklin College, a "Great Grants Award" will be given to the organization presenting the most creative grant they funded or community project they organized.
Groups registering for the conference will be asked to develop a display and a short presentation that tells the story of their "Great Grant/Project."
YP Jam participants will select the project that they want to receive the sure-to-be-coveted award and a check for $500 to be used for future grants or projects.
More information will be provided in confirmations to be mailed to registered participants.
Deadline to sign up for this jam-packed two-day event is only $35, thanks to a grant from the Moore Foundation and the Efroymson Fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation.
The registration deadline for the Jam is June 22nd (must be postmarked or faxed by this date). Brochures are available on-line at www.ypin.org or by contacting Morgan Koors at morgank@voyager.net.

YPII in the News
Partners in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana were joined at their June meeting by students and staff from the IU School of Informatics to celebrate the completion of an animation project that promotes youth philanthropy.
The cartoon, featuring players from the Indiana Pacers and Fever basketball teams, was previewed on the big screen in Conseco Fieldhouse.
Partners also viewed a television spot produced by Bruce Kopp, of WTHR, Channel 13 regarding the making of the animation. The feature, which documents the extraordinary effort and time that was devoted to the project, was played on three evening news programs in late May. Kopp learned of YPII's project from a feature article written on the animation in the Indianapolis Business Journal.
Partnerships such as the animation project's collaboration among the School of Informatics, the Pacers Foundation and the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance are what the YPII network is all about! The animation will play at all Fever home games and at Pacers games next season.
The partnership hopes also to air the animation in other venues that youth frequent, such as movie theatres and on television. Contact Melanie Audette for more information on the project. |

Youth Philanthropic Tidbit: Did you know that, according to the Search Institute, only 24% of 100,000 youth surveyed feel like they have useful roles in their communities?
We can change that statistic by involving youth in philanthropy -- giving and serving for the common good. Invite youth to be a part of a grants committee -- or better yet, a board member!
Interested in beginning a youth philanthropy initiative in your community? See www.ypin.org for models and contact info of others across Indiana who are involving youth in philanthropic activities in their county.
Have a project model to share? Contact YPII summer intern, Paul Weaver, to have your model or project posted on the Web site.
