PHILANTHROPY DAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2005 November 15th is National Philanthropy Day, a day designated to celebrate giving. We hope you will choose to be active in celebrating this
year's National Philanthropy Day,
and we encourage you to work with other organizations in your community to promote it. The philanthropic community is strong yet varied, and each individual voice is equally important on this day of recognition and reflection. Look for Learning To Give lesson plans related to Philanthropy Day available on its web site November 1st.
A 2005 Philanthropy Awards Dinner will be hosted by the AFP-Indiana Chapter at the Westin Hotel, beginning at 5:30 PM, Tuesday, November
15th. The Outstanding Youth Achievement Award will be presented to Daniel Kent, a senior at
Brebeuf High School who has started his own nonprofit, Senior Connections, to teach senior citizens how to use computers and the internet to stay in touch with family. Celebrate this wonderful young Indiana philanthropist!
IYI'S "KIDS COUNT IN INDIANA" CONFERENCE, NOVEMBER 17-18, 2005 This year's keynote speaker is Grammy Award-winning singer, songwriter, actress, author and social activist Naomi Judd and the conference features numerous workshops on leadership development, fund raising, and working with kids. The National Association of Social Workers is offering 8.75 continuing
education credits for attendees. To register or get more information, go to IYI's Web site.
DOLLAR DRIVE AND FUND DEVELOPMENT The Dollar Drive is an excellent way to involve young people in giving, create synergy and recognition around youth giving and making a positive difference in local communities. It is a campaign encouraging every youth in a community to give a dollar to causes they care about. Dollar Drive materials can be downloaded from our web site at www.YPIN.org. The Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana exists to grow lifelong philanthropists and believes that asking youth to give to causes they believe in helps them become better citizens and empowers them to care for their communities.
