Second Annual Governor's Conference on Service and Volunteerism The Second Annual Governor's Conference on Service and Volunteerism, "Volunteers Building Strong Communities: Growth, Leadership, and Collaboration" will be held October 6 and 7, 2004 at the Radisson Hotel City Centre in downtown Indianapolis. The conference will be co-hosted with the Indiana Department of Education's Service Learning section, the
Corporation for National and Community Service, and Indiana Campus Compact. The registration fee for both days is $90. For further information and to register, please visit www.IN.gov/iccsv/.
Constitutional Rights Foundation's Robinson Mini-Grant Program (in honor of the late Maurice R. "Robbie" Robinson) CRF will award mini-grants of up to $500 for K-12 service-learning projects designed to address serious community issues. Each of these superb projects addresses a larger social need, such as: poverty, hunger, environment, mentoring children and youth, crime and safety issues, and aging. Students will develop problem-solving skills which they can use later in life. They will also learn citizenship skills by practicing them. For additional information,

Planning Team for 2005 YP Jam: Are you interested in being an active member in shaping the 2005 YP Jam? YPII is seeking volunteers to be members of the 2005 YP Jam Planning Team. Volunteering will involve attending approximately 2-3 statewide YPII meetings and attending the 2005 YP Jam. Please contact Jerry Finn at YPII@aol.com if you are interested.
The YP Jam is an exciting annual conference in which young people across the state learn and develop new ideas about addressing serious community needs.

GRANTMAKERS = CHANGEMAKERS
Jennifer Zeisler will kick off the Indiana Grantmakers Alliance 2004 Fall Conference on September 15th with a dynamic message on....Grantmakers = Changemakers.
Jennifer has been involved in grantmaking since 1994 when she joined the Petoskey-Harbor Springs Area Community Foundation as part of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC). This joint effort between the Kellogg Foundation and the Council of Michigan Foundations, known as the Michigan Community Foundations' Youth Project (MCFYP), ignited the concept of youth grantmaking. Jennifer worked both at the local level and at the state level including leading the effort to change the state law regarding youth serving on Boards. For the past two years she has been involved with the Youth Philanthropy Initiative of Indiana and has worked at the Clowes Fund. Ms.
Zeisler represents the change agents of the future.

COLTS "COMMUNITY ALL-STARS PROGRAM"
Colts and NFL Team Up to Provide Youth Volunteers with Service Grants
The Indianapolis Colts and the National Football League have joined forces to honor youth volunteer initiatives in the state of Indiana. This program will supply assistance grants to individuals and/or youth groups who plan and execute a hands-on community enhancement or volunteer project.
Indiana youth and/or youth groups can submit nominations for the award by visiting www.colts.com until October 15, 2004 at 5 p.m. Nominations must be postmarked by October 13, 2004 and mailed to the Indianapolis Colts, Attn: Community All-Stars, 7001 W. 56th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46254. A total of $5,000 in grants will be awarded. Individual grant requests may not exceed $200. Grants will be announced and awarded by November 15, 2004. |

STATE FARM GOOD NEIGHBOR SERVICE-LEARNING GRANT
Youth Service America announces the availability of the State Farm Good Neighbor Service-Learning Grant to enable youth and educators to bring the benefits of service-learning to more people. One hundred grants of $1,000 each are available to teachers, youth (ages 5-25), and school-based service-learning coordinators to implement service-learning projects for National Youth Service Day, April 15-17, 2005, the largest
service event in the world. The focus is to mobilize youth as leaders to identify and address the needs of their communities through service and service-learning, support youth on a lifelong path of service and civic engagement, and educate the public, the media, and policymakers about the year-round contributions of young people as community leaders.
Visit www.YSA.org/nysd to learn more about this grant, National Youth Service Day, and to find resources that will help you develop an outstanding NYSD project and prepare a quality grant application.
