Program Description:
The Youth Grant Program was established in 1997 to teach youth of
Grant County the values and rewards of philanthropy. The program
is split into two age groups. The Youth Grant I Program is for 4th
and 5th graders who work off of a $10,000 budget. The Youth Grant
II Program is for 7th and 8th graders who work off of a $7,000 budget.
The committees meet three times during the school year. Students
are asked to search within their schools and communities for needs.
Once the needs are identified, the students prepare and present
their grant proposal to their peers. The committee then votes on
which proposals will receive grant money.
