Great Grants/Super Service Activities from the 2006 YP Jam:
Eleven groups gave presentations of Great Grants or Super Service activities at
the 2006 YP Jam in July. YPII offered cash awards of $500 each for the two
best Great Grants/Super Service Activities. Jam participants evaluated all
presentations and scores were based on particular criteria. The two winning
organizations and their service projects: The Lawrence Central Spanish
Club has sponsored a house for a Hispanic family in which they plan
to paint, garden, stock cabinets with food, and supply school clothes for the
children along with new linens. The DIAMONDS , a group from
the YMCA of Southern Indiana, will be hosting a "senior prom" for
New Albany's senior citizens. The "prom" will give older adults a
chance to dance, snack, and spend time with each other and the youth volunteers
that will be attending. The $1,000 in grant awards was made possible by the Dekko
Foundation.
