Program Description:
Our program consists of a Youth Philanthropy Council, which serves as a grantmaking committee for the Foundation. It is made up of high school students who have been identified as leaders through their local Rotary and are, in fact, RYLA scholars. We meet at different nonprofit agencies each month in order to expose students to communities other than their own. Our goal is to encourage life long philanthropy and appreciation of Lake County. We are in our third year of the program and they made their first grants in 2006. They are also developing rules for participation in the YPC, fundraising strategies and ways to become more fully engaged with the Foundation.
