Program Description:
Our Youth Grant Committee consists of 8th-12th grade Vigo County students who meet twice each month during the school year and conduct two grant cycles, funding service projects in Vigo County that are carried out by youth for the benefit of youth. Typically, the group grants $8,000-$10,000 annually.

Community Partner Organizations:
The Wabash Valley Community Foundation provides funding annually for the grant making activity of the YGC.

Number of youth involved in the youth philanthropy programs:
15-25 on the YGC, but basically all youth in the county have benefited or are eligible to benefit from the YGC's funding activities.

Number of adults involved in the youth philanthropy programs:
WVCF Program Director is the adult directly overseeing YGC's activity, and the WVCF Board of Directors approves all funding recommendations.

If applicable, how have youth been involved with fundraising?
A few years ago these kids raised $20,000 for a Youth Build Habitat for Humanity project. Each of the YGC members participated in a letter-writing campaign targeting local corporations for sponsorship support.

Program Description:
This program provides young people with the financial means to complete projects that better their classrooms, schools, and communities. Grants are offered monthly and are simple to apply for. Youth groups complete a paper application and then make a presentation describing their project further to a board of adult and youth volunteers. The board decides which grants are funded.
